Webinar Battling unprecedented heat in Portland (USA)
Dinsdag 24 mei 2022
On Tuesday the 24th of May, Dutch Climate Alliance, Utrecht University, and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences organised the webinar 'Battling unprecedented heat'. During this webinar we discussed the lessons learned from the 2021 extreme heatwave in Portland with two experts from this city. These lessons are more than interesting, as the Netherlands and the rest of Northern Europe have a similar climate. What can we learn from this unprecedented heat event in Portland? How and with whom can local heat plans and crisis management be developed, organised, and improved? What are the conditions that made some people more vulnerable than others? And what does this mean for longer term urban climate adaptation? Many questions were answered, many insights were shared.
