Lector Digital Life (HvA) & Bijzonder Hoogleraar 'Human-System Interaction for Health & Wellbeing' (UvA)Dr. Somaya Ben Allouch geeft sinds oktober 2018 leiding aan het lectoraat Digital Life. Dit lectoraat valt onder het Kenniscentrum van de Faculteit Digitale Media en Creatieve Industrie (FDMCI). Digital Life houdt zich bezig met toegepast onderzoek naar zowel ontwerp als ontwikkeling, gebruik, implementatie en evaluatie van digitale technologie binnen het domein van gezondheid en welzijn vanuit een mensperspectief.
Daarnaast werkt Somaya aan het SIA-SPRONG project Mensen in Beweging. In dit project kijken onderzoekers naar gezonde voeding en bewegen voor kwetsbare groepen in combinatie met duurzame gedragsbeïnvloeding met behulp van creatieve technologie.
Somaya Ben Allouch is per 1 januari 2021 benoemd tot bijzonder hoogleraar ‘Human-System Interaction for Health and Wellbeing’ aan de Faculteit der Natuurwetenschappen, Wiskunde en Informatica van de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA). De leerstoel is ingesteld door de Stichting Bèta Plus. Kijk voor meer informatie op de UvA website.
De onderzoeksexpertise van Somaya Ben Allouch omvat mensgerichte interactie, acceptatie, (langdurig) gebruik en evaluatie van technologieën. Met name de sociale robotica, alomtegenwoordige technologieën, ondersteunende technologieën en wearables hebben haar interesse.
Somaya Ben Allouch werkte van 2002 tot 2014 aan de Universiteit Twente waar ze in 2008 promoveerde op de ontwikkeling, acceptatie en het gebruik van intelligente omgevingstechnologieën. In 2011 en 2012 was zij bovendien gastonderzoeker bij het Ambient Intelligence Research Lab van Stanford University.
Naast haar functie als lector bij Digital Life is Somaya Ben Allouch lid van de redactieraad van de Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments en gastredacteur voor tijdschriften, zoals het tijdschrift van Social Robotica en het Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks. Verder is ze betrokken bij diverse (inter)nationale competitieve, door derden gefinancierde onderzoeksprojecten en begeleidt ze verschillende promotieprojecten.
